Remember to register your EPIRB.
All too often we sell vessels that have an unregistered Epirb onboard.
When you purchase a new Epirb or buy a vessel with an Epirb onboard, you must notify AMSA that you are the new owner. All to often when Anchorline inspects or sells a vessel we find out of date and unregistered Epirb’s. In the event of an emergency if is difficult for the authorities to know who and what they are looking for if the beacon that is sending the signal isn’t linked to an owner.
Recently we had a customer that was contacted by AMSA as an Epirb registered in their name was set off. The owner had sold the vessel some years before.
